Melissa Cobb
Through her evolving dialogue with surface, form and history, Melissa Cobb explores how time, memory and place shape everyday objects that hold both function and meaning.
Previously, Melissa enjoyed a career as a Hollywood film producer and executive, collaborating with some of the world’s most talented storytellers and artists. She relocated to San Miguel de Allende from Los Angeles in 2023 to focus on storytelling through her own art and design, translating narrative curiosity into tangible objects.
Pieces are crafted in high-fire stoneware or porcelain, utilizing a dynamic mix of wheel throwing, hand building and slip-casting. The work draws on natural forms and the surrounding cultural history, reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens.
We look forward to hearing from you.

MORE THAN A VESSEL
Maison Hidalgo
San Miguel de Allende, MX
2025
This series of sculptural pieces is a reflection on the role of women in ceramics and in the world more broadly. In the history of ceramics, women where often tasked with creating vessels for cooking and preserving food.
The artistry of these essential tools was often overlooked.
In creating these pieces I reflected on this as well as on the myriad ways that women show up in the world, adding richness and beauty beyond their role as a vessel for life.
FORGED IN FIRE

The journey of each piece begins in stillness - the clay yielding and soft; shaped by the gentlest of touch. To reach its final form, the piece must first surrender to the ferocious, elemental power of heat.
In this collection, I use simple, geometric forms to serve as a canvas for bespoke volcanic surface treatments that leave a permanent record of the volatile, unpredictable energy of the kiln.
l invite you to slow down and observe the beauty that emerges through the crucible of pressure, chaos, and fire.
